Dundee City Sustainability Game

The aim of this project is to promote awareness in sustainability efforts being made within Dundee, encouraging this development further and providing insight into sustainable living. The goal is to maintain a high energy rating, while also having a high ‘greenery’ rating. This involves investing in green energy sources, moving away from relying on unsustainable energy sources, and improving the environmental conditions of the city.

The ‘map points’ that you can purchase have different impacts on the city, as well as displaying some information about the location. You can view more information about many of the locations with the ‘view info’ button, linking to official sources.

Controls.

• Hover over buttons to see what they do.
• Hold left click and move the cursor to pan the camera around.
• Click on locations to purchase or view information.
• Click on the ‘Tips’ button in the bottom right to view any in-game tips that have been displayed.
• Press the 1-5 keys to change the game speed.

Troubleshooting.

If you want to start from the beginning, click the ‘Save/Load’ button at the top of the screen, and click ‘New Game’.

• The screen is just grey/the map is not visible.
  •  The camera is off the map, click the ‘Reset Camera’ button at the top of the screen.
• The camera panning is too fast/slow/inverted.
  • The camera settings can be changed in the options, click the ‘Change game settings’ button at the top of the screen.
• The map is black & white, why?
  • A filter is turned on, click the button displayed in the top left, just below the resource bars, or press shift + the 1-5 keys.
